Today is going to be a double review for
the Bath and Body Works ScentPortables and Wallflowers.
Let’s start with the ScentPortables. I
have been looking for a good, long lasting air freshener for my car for a long,
long time. I have always used the Little Tree brand of fresheners, but they don’t
last very long and I had grown sick of repurchasing them. I then heard about
the ScentPortables line from Bath & Body Works. When I went in store, they
had a huge variety of both the holders and scents. I picked out a super cute
gold and black one (pictured below) that was on sale for $7.50. It came with
one scent, Vanilla Coconut, and I picked out several others to try.
It was super easy to set up, all you have
to do is peel back the label on the scent and place it in the holder, clip it
on your visor, and then voila, you’re done. I’ll admit, I was disappointed when
I first opened it because I only had a faint whiff of the scent – not a great
first impression. But I have noticed that as the days have gone on the scent
has grown stronger (quite the opposite of other fresheners that smell great the
first day then don’t smell like anything a week later). I am loving it and don’t
know how I lasted this long without one! And I love the variety of scents
available; many times B&BW will have buy 4 get 2 free etc. I definitely recommend
this line as they add a cute accent to your car and make it smell great!
Up next is the Wallflower line from
B&BW. Right now I am living at home while attending school, so only have
one Wallflower set up in my room. It works perfectly for my small space and isn’t
too overwhelming – you just catch a whiff of it while walking by, which is how
I like it. If you are buying these for your home you will need several to plug
in throughout your house, or alternatively you could go for the Glade line of plugins
as those emit a stronger smell (I have had good experience with many of those
scents as well). Bath and Body Works keeps me coming back with their variety of
ever-changing scents, however, and I love being able to pick out a scent in
both plugin and candle form. I will continue repurchasing these as the variety
in scents is too good to pass up.

Happy Friday!
Inspired by the beautiful weather outside
today, I wanted to do a post on swimwear. Like tons of other girls, I tend to
get super frustrated while shopping for a swimsuit. I wanted to put together a
few options to aid you in your search for the perfect, flattering piece whether
you be soaking up the sun on the beach or making a splash at the pool.
It’s become easier in recent times to find
cute one piece or “monokini” swimsuits. Just because you want to cover up doesn’t
mean you have to resort to a frumpy, plain one piece!
Ruched one pieces are very flattering on
most figures – especially if you have curves! You could go for a cutout
monokini for a sexier look as well
This season it seems that designers are
jumping at the chance to create different bikini styles rather than the cookie
cutter triangle top and side tie bottoms. Try a retro suit or high waisted bottoms;
you could even try out one of the new tankini-bikini hybrids (shown below)
And there always will be the option of the
standard bikini – it’s fun to buy tons of different bottoms and tops for
hundreds of different options. Try out a top with a different texture – such as
fringe – for a sizzling summer look! For bigger chested girls, try a swimsuit
with underwire and straps that can support you, I guarantee you will feel SO
much more confident when you don’t have to worry about your top not fitting
correctly!

I love bold
prints, and this season has been rich with textures and patterns such as floral,
galaxy, camo, and even some tie dye (C:). My favorite way to incorporate this
statement look is through bold patterned shorts, I love pairing a crazy pair of
shorts with a simple tank for a put together, everyday look. You can go as wild or as subdued as you want, because all of these patterns are available in
a variety of forms, from scarves to shoes you are sure to find something that
catches your eye.

Summer is, and always will be my favorite
season. I would love to wear cute tanks, dresses, and shorts year round – but alas
– I live in a climate where warm weather lasts for a mere 4 months out of the
year.
This doesn’t mean I don’t love me some
good ol’ summer shopping, though!
I’ve been keeping an eye out for upcoming
trends this season, and have picked out the ones that intrigue me the most; I
will make a few blog posts this week on trends to look out for this summer!
~
One of my favorite trends this year is what
I like to call grungy glam; edgy style clothing paired with cute accessories.
This look is so easy to replicate and only requires a few staple pieces, such
as a well-fitting pair of high waisted or cutoff shorts, some cutoff tanks or
cool tees, and your comfiest pair of sneakers or boots. I have found most
stores are carrying high waisted shorts this season, so finding a pair shouldn’t
be a challenge. You also can attempt to diy your own pair (I plan on doing this
soon!).
Another great option for finding clothing
that fits this trend is to go check out your local thrift store. You should be
able to find a variety of awesome tees that you can either convert to tanks or
wear as is, the best part is you will surely get them for a great price! I like
to look at websites such as www.nastygal.com
and www.karmaloop.com for some
grunge-esque inspiration.
Here’s to hoping it stays in style for a
bit longer!

Hello
and welcome to the first official post of The Tie Dye Blonde. I created this
blog for those seeking a place where they can find reviews, advice, recipes,
and more all in one convenient spot. I am an avid blog reader, and
thought hey, why not combine the aspects of all the blogs I love into one huge,
fabulous package? I'm hoping this blog will evolve into an overall lifestyle
site that a variety of people can enjoy.
Here's
a little bit about me, I'm a 20 year old college student who loves fashion,
beauty, and traveling. I'm also a TV, movie, and video game addict.
I'm
always up for trying something new, and wanted a place where I can record my
thoughts and share them with the world (and maybe even help someone in the
process!) Comments and suggestions are always appreciated.
So
without further ado, let's get started!
